Why the bedding surface matters more than the finish

Aluminium chassis systems are stiffer than most factory stocks, which keeps the action from flexing under bipod load and is where most of the real accuracy gain comes from, not the finish. Fit before you order

The real tradeoff

Weight. A chassis generally adds weight over a synthetic stock, which steadies the rifle on a bipod and costs you on a long carry. Modularity is the other side of that: forends, grips and stocks become swappable rather than fixed, so the rifle can be reconfigured instead of replaced as your use changes.
