The GAP bolt action chassis in Tiger Stripe carries a high-contrast, linear pattern designed to break up a rifle’s straight lines in dense foliage and mixed-light woodland, the opposite environment to the open, dry terrain our Ridgeback finish suits. Underneath the pattern it is the identical chassis: same aluminium body, same bedding system, same modular forend and grip interface.

What the chassis is actually doing

A chassis has one real job beyond ergonomics: bed the action so consistently that the barrel returns to the same point of impact every time. That consistency, not the pattern on top of it, is what a chassis is worth paying for. The stiffness of an aluminium chassis over a synthetic stock is what stops the action flexing under bipod load, which is the actual source of the accuracy gain.

Fitting it to your rifle

Check three things before you order: the inlet matches your action, your barrel contour clears the forend, and your magazine is supported. A heavy-contour barrel needs a forend cut for it, a sporter contour will rattle around in one that isn’t. Grips and stocks are largely interchangeable across common patterns, which is where most of the ergonomic tuning happens after the chassis itself is fitted.

Living with the weight
